Seriously, this has to be said.

The way this fandom treats Amber (and to a lesser extent, Jenna) sickens me. I’ve never seen a castmember treated so badly by people who claim to be “fans”. From people sending her hate for “breaking up their ship” (protip: RIB+ did that, not Amber. She has as much say in the storylines as you do - actually, considering how much the writers listen to fandom, she probably has less) to people making racist and fatphobic jokes about her to fandom just plain ignoring her, it’s disgusting. 

Fandom, imagine if someone tweeted, to the girls themselves, how Lea’s a “stupid anorexic bitch” or Naya’s a “dumb [racial slur]” or Dianna’s an “ugly fucking bitch who broke up Finchel” or Heather’s a “stupid talentless whore”. You’d be so full of rage you’d probably have a fucking heart attack. You’d trip over your own feet rushing to defend her and send her “omg bb don’t be sad they’re stupid you’re perfect <333” tweets. I bet you’d never accuse Cory of being a “skinny fetishist” for saying he had a crush on Naya/Lea/Heather/Dianna. I bet you’d never leave Di, Heather, Lea or Naya out of things involving “the glee girls” - yet you regularly leave Jenna and Amber out (two girls that have been there since scene one, episode one, as regulars). Dear god, imagine if someone gave Santana a nickname based on a nasty racial stereotype.

The funny thing is, I bet if Amber were a skinny white girl (or, hell, just skinny and lighter skinned), you’d sit around stanning her like nobody’s business. You’d talk about how she’s the most talented person to grace the earth. She’d be in every magazine on earth, and you’d buy every copy of it. If someone dared to say “Ugh Amber isn’t that talented” or “That stupid bitch broke up my ship”, you’d send them hate and make long ranty posts about how people disrespected Princess Amber and then you’d get “we love you amber” trending on twitter. You’d cry over her not getting storylines on Glee. You’d ship Mercedes with everyone and not talk about how it’s “not believable” that a stereotypical hot guy would have a crush on her character. You’d talk about how Amber ~made you a lesbian~ or how you’d ~go lesbian for Amber~ (actually, that’s a whole other rant). You’d demand a solo CD from her, and buy ten copies of it. You’d do fanprojects for her. You’d talk about how she’s an unconventional beauty and how if magazines don’t like her, it’s just because of that and no other reason. If she acted inappropriately in an interview, you’d talk about how she’s just a strong woman or how the interviewer deserved it. You’d make excuses for her doing anything wrong. You’d put her on a pedestal so high, you’d need fucking binoculars to see her.

But instead, you treat her in ways that are, frankly, horrific and make me embarrassed to be part of Glee fandom. Good job, fandom.
